We're Flying to Ocracoke April 19!

Members of the Carteret County Aviation Association will be flying out to Ocracoke Island (W95) for lunch at Howard’s Pub on Saturday, April 19th. The fly out will be in lieu of the regular monthly meeting which is normally held on the third Saturday.

For those who have never made the trip, Ocracoke is just a hop, skip and a jump from KMRH. You just fly out to the Cape, hang a left and fly up the beach until you see the airport. The flight is 35 to 45 minutes, depending on what you’re flying. Just remember that R-5306A lies just inside Portsmouth Island over Core Sound. They fly fast and low in there.

Howard’s Pub is a great experience in itself, with a varied menu which includes lots of sandwiches, salads and other items. They have a street-legal golf cart that they shuttle folk back and forth from the airport with, or you can walk if you want the exercise. It’s about a half mile trek along Highway 12. We’ve made this trip on several occasions over the years, and have always had a good time.

David Radford is the coordinator for this excursion. He is calling for everyone to be prepared to depart MRH at about 10:30 to 10:45. He’ll want to notify Howard’s in advance, so if you plan to come, he’d appreciate an email to dradford08@yahoo.com.

In the event of weather, we will make the trip on the following day, Sunday, at the same time.

The Carteret County Flying Association is a community of approximately 40 + pilots and their significant others who fly in the Carteret County Area. We all share one thing in common, flying. This web site is dedicated to sharing news and information about flying for folks flying in this area. The CCAA currently meets every third Saturday for either an on airport meeting or an off airport flying event.
